The green house has landed

Today has been very busy, in fact the whole weekend has been busy. Yesterday we drove 2 1/2 hours to get a green house, carefully taken apart and labelled, packed up and home 2 1/2 hours after that!

It's a 6' by 4' glass green house, only two panes broken, so a great freebie. Today I had to clear a space for it. This involved moving two bottomless planters, I know it's not the time to move plants, but never mind. Each planter took about 8 normal size grow bags of soil, so I was shifting soil all morning. Any way two planters repositioned and greenhouse reconstruction started. It's going up well, but I need to buy some bolts where a few sheared when trying to move them.

Hopefully it will be finished this week, all the glass needs a good clean, which we will do as they go in.

On Friday I went to one of the best garden centers local ish. Bought a mixture of tulips, daffs and a couple of other bulb sorts. Stocking up on seeds for next spring, (seeing whats on offer) and onions, red cabbage and beetroot for the kitchen garden.  The only thing about the flowering bulbs is that I still have to dig the flower bed to put them in. I'm slowly turning all the grass into flower beds as I hate cutting to lawn. but the dogs like it.

The grass that has to go. Who needs that much grass?

Day 2 of Blog the garden

Today is day two, so here goes. Most of day has been taken up at work, oh well. The dogs and cat were pleased to see me when I got in and Racer and Jasper are either side of me on the sofa now.

Had a check of everything in the garden when I got in, everything still doing well. I'm currently growing lots of fruit and veg, we have
Apples
Blackberries (growing over back fence)
Brussels
Carrots
Chillies
Cauliflowers
Damsons (over back fence)
Elderflower/berries (over back fence)
Peppers
Potatoes
Raspberries
Rhubarb
Runner beans
Strawberries normal and climbing
Tomatoes

I think that's it. Hoping to add a cherry or pear tree next year. I really love walking though a garden and snaking as you go! Same on dog walks too.

The apple tree when we first got it, the garden has changed a lot. The Koi pond is now where the table is, and the pile of rocks has been split up. All the planters were loving made by my better half and worked out a lot more cost effective than buying pre made ones.

I do have non food plants in the garden and am pleased my roses are flowering for a second time this season, one is a red climber and the other is a strongly scented dark pink. I love roses, mainly the smell, and hope to add to these two later.
Anyway enough for now. Bye

Well here are the dogs, as you can see we have a strict no dogs on sofa policy. Murphy (lab) is six and a half, his own dog, who only really moves for food. Racer (wss) is five and full of energy, due to Murphy's lack of interaction he is best friends with the cat Jasper, well everyone needs a friend.

These two are a huge part of my life I love both training and walking them. We have just returned from weekend away in Wells next the sea, where we walked and walked the dogs loved it, I loved it. Over way too soon, but already booked for next year.

Murphy has been with me since 8 weeks of age, he was never a bouncy Lab and is very chilled out. I choose a lab for a first dog as I wanted a middle of the road type dog, although I did get very lucky not to have one bouncing off the walls. Racer came to me at 14 months after I feel in love with his mother. I didn't know what Welsh springers were until I met Amber his mum and knew they were the breed for me. Although Racer always seems to have engery, he too understands the need to curl up on the sofa for a night in.

Well this is my blog.

Hi and welcome, I have started this blog to write about the things I love in life.
Most importantly my dogs, my garden and my handbags.
Firstly I have two dogs a Black Labrador and a Welsh Springer Spaniel. Both are loved equally for difference reasons.
Secondly I have a normal size town garden wihich is a work in progress, but getting there.
Thirdly I have a collection of way to many Radley handbags having started my collection in 2004, I now have over thirty.

More to follow......
